...I no longer want to sell my Corvair. I’m looking for a reasonably priced paint shop in the Fredericksburg, va area to strip and repaint it, and weld in a new pan. So far the only rough estimate has been $5k. I have wondered if plastidipping could help protect the metal for a while as the current paint is flaking off.

Won’t plastidipping trap moisture and expedite the rust process?

I cannot in good conscience allow you to pass up the opportunity to have the world’s only metallic flake blurple Corvair.

This seems like good news! No?
I plastidipped a few of the rusty and flaky areas on Crusty and it’s held well for over a month now (this turned it from a 50 footer to a 20 footer!). Maybe not a bad idea.

I think plastidip is fragile and messy, but I haven’t worked with it that much. If you are protecting flaking off paint, just lightly rub off the flaky part and spray a clearcoat on the area to protect it. If you are talking about the floor pan, try POR-15.
